The province of Guanacaste is one of the largest provinces in Costa Rica. It is located in the country`s North West territory, covering the entire North pacific coast as well as large portions of land portions, with vast plains, valleys and mountain ranges. The diversity in climates and landscapes that Guanacaste offers the visitor is also abundant and changing. There are miles and miles of coastline with abrupt geography, including coves, bays, beaches, rocky pinnacles, mangroves, river mouths and endless beaches. Inland, you will encounter savannahs, tropical dry forests and ridges and mountain ranges that include the Guanacaste Volcanic Mountain Range, including Rincon de la Vieja, Orosi, Cacao and Miravalles Volcanoes.
The largest city in Guanacaste is Liberia, followed by Nicoya, Santa Cruz and Carmona. Guanacaste also has its own International Airport, with charters planes and regular flights arriving every day. Guanacaste is famous for its beaches, sun, bathing, and all kinds of water activities, including diving, snorkeling, and boat tours.
